So I was down at the gym yesterday running on the treadmill when MTV's "Parental Control" came on. This show left me completely and utterly shocked. If you haven't seen it, the premise of the show is for a guy or girls parents to choose two people for their child to go on dates with, because they don't like their current boy/girlfriend.
As the person goes on their dates, the parents wait with their boy/girlfriend and watch the date live. I don't know if this particular episode was especially raunchy, but the sleezball boyfriend managed to get a lapdance and kiss the girl that his mom chose for him. He is doing all of this knowing his girlfriend is watching. Even worse, the parents are encouraging it because they don't like his girlfriend. The whole idea behind this show is very wrong, very screwed up, and clearly shows the decline of morality and values in our society. For shame MTV.

Jealousy
"Jealousy is a wasted sentiment, or at least that's the advice I give to all my friends. And yet, I seem to be no good friend to myself."

Skin Cancer and Parachuting
So golfing yesterday was phenominal. I shot a 102. Not bad considering it was the first time I've played in a month or so. Even more impressive was my 45 on the back 9. Unfortunately, I didn't put suncreen on my legs and parts of my arm. I came back to find my calves and ankles incredibly burned. I feel the skin cancer and malignant melanoma growing as I type.
In other news, in a little more than a week I begin Airmanship 490, a class dedicated to teaching cadets to parachute. It will be a very intense ground school, as this class allows me to do something that few other people have done: solo on my first jump. At civilian schools this is prohibited, but I guess the Academy feels that their training is just that good. I guess I'll find out.

(Trying to) Get It Done
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I forgot my login name and was too busy studying to realize I could have Blogger e-mail it to me. Three finals down and two to go, today was an off day. A chance to recharge my batteries and start studying. I definitely recharged my batteries, but have yet to start studying for that Engineering Mechanics final tomorrow. Oh bother.

Finals and Military Blogging
I've pledged to spend two hours a night this week in the library, studying for finals. That is actually where I'm at right now. Its nice being away from my room, the noise of my roommmates, and other distractions that the dorms provide. I can't say I'm in as good of a position as I was last semester (3.65 GPA) but I'm working on it.
In other news, the 4- Star General Commander of U.S. Strategic Command came to speak to the 4,000 cadets last week. It was very interesting that a big part of his talk dealt with the military using blogging as a part of the problem solving process. In these "military blogs", young lieutenants and seasoned Generals can propose solutions and discuss strategy. This was pretty cool. I also couldn't help but chuckly walking out of this briefing as I heard a kid ask his friend "What's a blog"? Wow.

Dejavu
No, I am not speaking of the former Medford strip club. Yesterday felt like deja vu as I was told that I would be going back to Dyess AFB Texas for "Operation Air Force". I have mixed emotions about this. It feels nice to go someplace that is familiar and known to be fun. Its unfortunate for the fact that I will not be able to see someplace I've never seen before. Apparently there are opportunities to fly places on the weekend so maybe I can visit other parts of the US. Maybe even Hawaii or Florida. I guess its just nice to have my summer schedule finalized.
